The next Inverse Days conference will take place on 14-17 December, 2026, in Jyväskylä!
Organised by the Finnish Inverse Problems Society (FIPS) in collaboration with the FAME Flagship and DREAM doctoral education pilot and hosted by the University of Jyväskylä, this year’s conference will gather together researchers, students, and industrial professionals from all over the global inverse problems research community to the heart of the Finnish Lakeland region.

What are Inverse Days?
Since 1997, Finland’s active inverse problems community has been formally organised around the Finnish Inverse Problems Society (FIPS). Bringing together mathematicians, physicists, and engineers, FIPS pursues to facilitate and foster research collaboration in inverse problems across Finnish academia and industry. The FAME Flagship traces its roots to this long-lasting national ecosystem as well.
Ever since the beginning, FIPS has organised inverse problems conferences as its annual scientific meeting. From the humble beginnings of a one-day workshop of around 20 people in the mid-1990s, the Inverse Days meeting has since evolved into a multi-day international conference and highlight of the year for Finland’s inverse problems experts and students.
