Joonas Ilmavirta

Joonas Ilmavirta completed his master’s degree in theoretical physics and doctorate in mathematics at University of Jyväskylä. His thesis was on broken ray tomography, and variations of ray tomography in various geometries have remained central to his research. Another major direction is physical modelling of physical phenomena into accurate and tractable geometric models and analyzing the arising geometric inverse problems. Ilmavirta is currently an academy research fellow of mathematics at University of Jyväskylä, and his main role in FAME is to coordinate collaboration in teaching.
