15 Minutes of FAME: Sodankylä Supersite: Arctic testbed for Space & Tech companies and a data playground for method development

Thursday, 5.11.2026 | 8:45-9:00
Zoom meeting

15 Minutes of FAME is the FAME Flagship’s monthly open morning coffee webinar series in which the Flagship’s researchers and partners offer snapshots into their current scientific work and activities within the FAME network.

This webinar will be presented by Research prof. Hannakaisa Lindqvist (Finnish Meteorological Institute, FMI).

Prof. Lindqvist’s talk will introduce the Sodankylä Supersite, a satellite calibration and validation platform and an open R&D testbed established in co-operation with the European Space Agency in FMI’s Arctic Space Centre in Sodankylä, Finland. The Supersite combines FMI’s Sodankylä measurement history of over 100 years with observations from state-of-the-art equipment, enabling versatile space mission validation in high-latitude environment. Supersite has multiple company partners from the Finnish space and technology sectors to test their prototypes, develop services, and collect and utilize data to support their R&D work.

Grab your morning coffee and kickstart your day with us on the first Thursday of every month to hear more about how FAME shapes the future with mathematics, physics, and computing!
