On 11-14 November, the FAME Flagship had an opportunity to be part of promoting Finnish scientific excellence overseas with Vice Director Samuli Siltanen (University of Helsinki) and Professor Ville Kolehmainen (University of Eastern Finland) heading to Colorado, USA, as part of a business and research delegation. The visit was organised by Team Finland network, which brings together all public internationalisation services for Finnish companies, in co-operation with the Colorado Office of Economic Development (OEDIT), the Photonics Finland technology cluster, FAME, and the U.S. National Science Foundation’s Advanced Sensing and Computation for Environmental Decision-making (ASCEND) Engine in Colorado and Wyoming ecosystem.
Led by Ambassador of Finland to the United States Leena-Kaisa Mikkola, the delegation consisted of company and research organisation representatives from fields of photonics, quantum technologies, climate solutions, and advanced computation. During their trip, Vice Director Siltanen and Prof. Kolehmainen had the chance to meet local RDI stakeholders, witness a rare and impressive medical imaging demonstration, participate in an underground lesson in a mine, and even taste a local version of the Finnish lonkero. You can read more about the delegation trip from Vice Director Siltanen’s extensive FAME Blog post.
The FAME Flagship wishes to thank the wonderful hosts in Colorado, Ambassador Mikkola, Team Finland, and all participating organisations for making this amazing opportunity possible!
